A 2-hour workshop for project managers.
The tech industry is a fast-paced roller coaster, often marked by layoffs and downsizing. In this volatile environment, careers are no longer linear ladders—they resemble rock walls, requiring agility, adaptability, and the ability to forge “out of the ordinary” paths. In this session, we’ll explore how professionals, particularly project managers, can apply the principles of project management to their own careers during times of uncertainty and transition.
At the end of this workshop, project managers will walk away with the following items:
- Project plan and tools for finding a job.
- Activities to keep yourself relevant.
- Resources to support in these times of change.
Drawing from recent articles on the changing nature of careers in tech, we’ll discuss the need for proactive planning, emphasizing the importance of being prepared and adaptable. The emotional toll of layoffs and downsizing can be significant, but focusing on a structured plan—rather than being overwhelmed by stress, sadness, or fear—is key to emerging stronger from these challenges.
We will also highlight how new technologies, including AI, can support career development and personal project planning. AI can help identify trends, assess skill gaps, and provide tools for continuous learning, giving project managers the edge they need to stay ahead in a competitive market. AI can even help develop your abstracts and presentations!
Project managers are already skilled in executing complex plans for others—so why not apply those same skills to manage their own careers? By leveraging the very expertise they bring to projects, PMs can create a clear roadmap for navigating uncertainty and turning obstacles into opportunities.
Join us as we delve into practical strategies for career management, focusing on turning career transitions into opportunities for growth through smart planning, emotional resilience, and leveraging the latest tech.
